Bachelor of the Arts in French and English from The College of New Jersey with a cumulative GPA of 3.87. I graduated with the honors of Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. I am currently enrolled in a one-year Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education English program at The College of New Jersey. Certifications: Passing scores on the French: World Language and English Language Arts: Content Knowledge Praxis exams. "Advanced low" score on the French oral proficiency interview (OPI exam).

Experience

I have experience tutoring elementary school students at the Foundation Academy Charter School in Trenton, NJ in a variety of subjects. I've also led many college-level "conversation hours" in which students are guided through a variety of activities in order to improve their ability to speak French. I received a score of 600 on the Reading section of the SAT. At TCNJ, I have taken a number of French and English courses including Intro to Poetry, Contemporary Literature, Advanced French Composition and Conversation, and French Cinema. I received either an A or an A- in all of these courses. During my senior year, I wrote two large research papers, one in French and one in English. I am interested in being a tutor because my ultimate goal is to become a high school French and/or English teacher. I also enjoy working with children and seeing their knowledge and skills improve over time. Last year, I studied abroad in Aix en Provence, France. At the institute where I studied, all of my courses were taught in French and I additionally lived with a French family. I think this "immersion" experience greatly improved my French and has made me more valuable and effective as a French tutor.
